Our provision at Ankermoor Primary Academy began operating in September 2019 in the school building.

We register children from their second birthday and accept both the thirty hour and fifteen hour funding in addition to paid for sessions.

We have a maximum of 24 children in any given session and operate on a ratio of 1:8. All staff are a minimum of level 3 qualified in early years, and hold a current paediatric first aid certificate.

Autumn 2020

1st October 2020

Wow! What a term we are having already. All children have settled really well and are thoroughly enjoying their journey in nursery. Within our very own Covid bubble children are making their own friendships and their confidence is blossoming. The children have really enjoyed exploring their outdoor and indoor setting and we have also had a trip down to the big playground collecting acorns. Our learning involves lots of natural resources to help develop conversation interests and imagination. We hope you are all able to access Tapestry and see your child's journey so far. We look forward to continuing our adventure with the children and getting to know them more.

Spring Term 2021

15th February 2021

Spring term at OPOJ Ankermoor has been full of Cultural Capital experiences, such as baking, food tasting and playing in the snow. We have worked hard changing the learning environment within nursery and the communication with parents via Tapestry. With the help from parents and LFT we are proud to say we have remained safe throughout and we hope you continue to do so over the holidays. Have a lovely break.

Nursery Intake

15th June 2020

If your child is due to start with us in September 2020, please click here to meet the team.

Nursery Information

In Our Pride Our Joy nurseries we follow a 'child initiated' curriculum which enables children to follow their own interests and learn through quality play, whilst being supported by qualified and experienced staff. Staff are trained to observe the children and look for 'teachable moments' in which to intervene and support the child to their next steps.

We have full access to the outdoor areas throughout the sessions and in all weathers, so children can choose their preferred area to learn within a well thought out, enabling environment.

Parents are kept informed of their child's progress through secure online accounts which they can read, enjoy and add to so that they can play a part in the 'learning journey' their child travels along whilst with us.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast club opens at 7:20 am and operates from the school hall.

Parents book places in advance to ensure our adult:child ratios are maintained at all times and qualified staff provide activities for the children to access.

A healthy breakfast choice is provided by the on site catering team.

Sending Oscar off to Nursery was very scary, especially as he was a very clingy little boy. As a Mum I felt so anxious, despite knowing how lovely the Nursery staff are as my daughter had only just moved up to Reception.
Seeing the change in him over time has been outstanding. He’s becoming so independent and is a lot more free in the home rather than having to be by my side all the time. He’s come on leaps and bounds since starting and he absolutely loves his teachers! They do everything they can for him and are so supportive of not only him but the family also!

Where do I start in September 2020 my little girl Isla started nursery at Ankermoor. Initially I was very apprehensive and worried as 2020 was not your typical year for anyone to start school. However, all I can say is the nursery have done a fantastic job with settling Isla in. During the lockdowns she has still attended the nursery setting which she absolutely loves. I cannot fault any one of the teachers who have played a part in my daughters first school year she has loved every minute and has excelled in everything she has had placed in front of her. I am so happy that I made the decision for Isla to attend this nursery and can only hope that she has a place in Reception . Special mention to Mrs James, Miss flood, Miss Harvey and Miss Hopkins for making wonderful memories on Tapestry for us to look back on but for also supporting and helping Isla grow x
